What is PARKL?

Parkl is a parking app, with which you can easily and safely find, book and pay for parking spots. Parkl is based on sharing economy, in which a marketplace brings together parking facility owners and drivers so that drivers can rent parking spots in the short term.

How can I contact Parkl if I have any questions?

Where can I download it, and what platforms does it run on?

The Parkl app can be found both on the App Store and on Google Play, as it works both on Android- and iOS-based devices.

Does it only work on smartphones? Do I need internet access for it?

Yes, you need internet access to be able to use Parkl, because your phone accesses our server on the web. The application was developed for use on iOS and Android devices, which means that devices such as smartphones and tablets which use those platforms can run it. It is not available for other platforms, unfortunately.

Can multiple people use one account?

No. A person can use one user account, but you can register multiple cars in your account.

Can I use the application with a car other than the one that is registered in the app?

The Parkl system identifies users based on the license plate number of their cars. The application can handle several license plates, but only one license plate can be used at a time during parking.

How can I delete my user account?

You can delete your Parkl user account by clicking on Delete profile at the bottom of the Profile/Personal account page. Before you decide to delete your Parkl account, please contact us at, our customer support colleagues are happy to help you with any questions you may have.

Off-street parking

How can I find a parking spot?

After you've downloaded the app and registered, rely on your GPS or type your destination into the search field and you'll be shown free parking facilities nearby.

How much is the minimal parking time?

There is no minimal parking time, but at most parking lots, parking sessions shorter than 10 minutes are not billed.

What do the different icons mean in the app?

logoThe lightning icon indicates a parking facility with electric charger.
logoThe number on the parking spot is the hourly charge.
logoThe icons can be black or gray. Black is the available space, while gray means that although Parkl has a parking position at a specific location, but all of them are occupied or the parking facility is closed.
logoThe logo sign will show parking facilities where the instant parking service is available.

How is the owner of the parking space notified about my use of their space?

The owner of the parking facility can see all the bookings with the cars' registration numbers on Parkl's dashboard.

How can I open the gates/barriers at entering the parking facilities?

Parkl installs its own hardware at the partner facilities, which allows users to open gates with a tap on their smartphone screen. At places where instant parking service is available and is set in the app, the barrier opens automatically based on license plate recognition.

Can I freely come and go from the parking facility while my parking is active?

You may do so on foot. (Leaving the facility with your car will end your parking session.)

What should I do if I can't open the gate?

If you can't open the gate, please check if you have internet connection, you are standing in front of the right gate and you have an active reservation to the location. If you can't open the gate after checking all the above, please contact the operator of the location or contact Parkl at our support phone number.

What should I do if I can't exit the parking garage on foot?

You can only use the app to exit on foot if the garage doesn't have a dedicated pedestrian exit, so you can only leave the garage through the car entrance. Please use the pedestrian exit every time if it's available.

How do I know if I'm parking at the right spot?

If you receive an exact identification of your spot after opening the gate, please try to find the exact spot. In any other cases, you can park at any free spots, except the ones marked as reserved.

What is instant parking and how does it work?

By turning on the instant parking function, the license plate number you register in the app will be identified by our plate recognition system, so you don’t even have to open the app to enter or exit the barrier as it opens automatically. The app will send you a push notification at the start and end of the parking session. Instant parking is only available at places marked with the logo sign.

How can I set up the instant parking feature?

You can set the instant parking function separately at each added vehicle on the Profile/Cars page of the application. The function can be set for several vehicles at the same time, and the barrier will open automatically upon arrival.

Instant parking can only be enabled for a license plate at one user at a time. If you receive a message during setup that instant parking has already been enabled for that license plate, please contact our customer service at!

On-street parking

How does street parking work?

You can use Parkl to pay for parking in any of Hungary's paying zones on the street, as easily as for anything else using the Parkl app.

To start parking on the street, follow the simple steps below:

  1. It is important to check your car settings in Parkl app: license plate, country code, vehicle type (Profile\Cars)
  2. Navigate to the map screen and tap the On Street button
  3. The app will automatically offer the zone code based on your location. Check if the app has detected your position correctly. If not, choose the correct parking zone by tapping on the zone on the map. (Alternatively, you can search for addresses and choose the zone belonging to the address selected.) On the Parking zone profile screen, you can check the costs of parking in the selected zone with your current vehicle, the beginning and the end of the paying period and the maximum length of your parking.
  4. Tap on the button Start parking to start parking in the selected zone
  5. After successfully starting parking, the map screen is displayed with a green strip marking your active parking. The system also sends a push notification to your phone.

To stop parking:

  1. Open your active parking by tapping the green strip on the map screen or by selecting your active parking from the list under the My Parkings menu.
  2. On the Ongoing street parking screen, stop your parking using the End parking button.
  3. After your parking has been successfully stopped, the system charges your bank card and sends a receipt. You also receive a push notification to your phone about successfully stopping your parking.
  4. You can end your parking for free until 1 minute.

How does automatic renewal works with street parking?

There are parking zones where the maximum time of parking is limited. This is displayed before starting your parking on the Parking zone profile screen. Your parking will automatically stop when reaching the time limit or at the end of the paying period in the zone. Your bank card will be charged and you will receive a receipt.

If you want to park your car for a longer period of time but you don't want to bother with manually restarting your parking, you should enable automatic renewal. This can be done prior to starting your parking and on the Ongoing street parking screen. If automatic renewal is enabled, the system will automatically create a new parking at the end of your expiring parking, with the same car in the same parking zone.

You can choose between in-day and overnight auto-renewal options.
In case of in-day auto-renewal, your parking will be restarted each time you reach the time limit of the zone, until you manually stop the parking, or the end of the paying period valid on that day. At the end of the paying period your parking will stop automatically.

If you choose overnight auto-renewal, your parking will be restarted each time you reach the time limit of the zone until you manually stop the parking. Warning, the parking will be restarted also at the start of the next paying period following that day.

We will send you push notifications both about expiring parkings and creating a new parking. Service fee will be billed each time a parking is renewed.

How does the reminder function work when street parking?

Has it ever occurred to you that you forgot about your ongoing street parking and you paid more than necessary? Our new reminder service about street parkings can be the solution.

Before start parking, set on the Parking zone profile if you would like to receive a reminder push notification 30, 60, or 90 minutes after the start of your parking session, or at a specific time. When you receive the notification, you can also reschedule the reminder and choose to receive it again in 15, 30, or 45 minutes. You can also turn off the reminder after you start parking.

What charges apply to different types of vehicles?

The current regulations, distinguishes between two categories of vehicle charges for on-street parking:

  • a passenger car, a tricycle or quadricycle, a trailer or caravan towed by a car and a lorry not exceeding a total weight of 3500 kilograms,
  • motor caravans, buses, lorries with a total weight of more than 3500 kilograms, agricultural tractors, slow-moving vehicles and trailers or caravans that can be towed with them.

The fee for vehicles in the second category is three times the fee for vehicles in the first.

The vehicle type can be set on the Profile / Cars page of the application on the Edit Car tab. The fee for the chosen vehicle type can be viewed on the Estimated Price section of the Parking Zone data sheet.


How can I find the EV charging stations?

On the app’s Off-Street map view the purple pins with the lightning indicate the Parkl charging stations and the dark pins with the green lightning show the spots where you can both park and charge with Parkl app. Use a filter by clicking on the purple lightning icon in the lower right corner of the map to see the places where the electric charging function is available.

How to start the EV charging process?

  • 1. Make sure that the charger is operating and isn’t indicating any fault.
  • 2. Click on the pin according to your location.
  • 3. On the Parking lot profile, you can get information about both the the parking lot and the EV charger’s location, performance and occupancy.
  • 4. Start charging by following the instructions in the application or at the charger.
  • 5. After a successful start, the map appears again with an orange bar, showing the ongoing charging process. You can check the charging status with the consumed energy, time and estimated cost by clicking the orange bar.

How to stop the EV charging process?

  • 1. Open the Charging in progress screen by taping the orange bar on the map or choose it from the list on the My Parkings page.
  • 2. To stop charging choose the STOP CHARGING option on the Charging in progress screen and remove the cable from your car.
  • 3. The system will stop the charging process, send you the receipt with the charging details and you pay automatically with the registered bank card. A notification will be sent to your phone about successfully stopping the charging.

What type of cable can I use to charge my car?

The electrical chargers available in the application are equipped with a Type2 plug.

Can I start charging without registering in the app?

Yes, you can start a charging session on Parkl's charging stations, without having to download and register in the app. You can start charging here or by scanning the QR code next to the charger. To use the one-time charging option, you need to provide the following information:

  • E-mail address
  • Phone number

How can I pay for charging if I have not registered in the app?

At those locations where charging is not free of charge, you are required to top-up the amount you would like to charge your car. After that, you can enter your bank card details via Saferpay. The selected amount will be locked on you card. When the top-up amount runs down, the charging session automatically stops and the locked amount will be deducted from your account.

If the quantity consumed does not reach the amount that is locked, the remaining amount will be unlocked. This can take up to 2-3 weeks depending on your bank.

Once you have finished charging, the details and receipt will be sent to your email address.

Can I request a VAT invoice if I start charging without registration?

Yes, before you start charging, click the "Do you want a VAT invoice?" checkbox and enter the required data. After the charging is stopped and the locked amount is deducted, the invoice will be sent to your e-mail address with the receipt.


How does payment work?

Payment takes place within the application, through the digital system of OTP Bank. Personal data submitted during registration is stored and handled by Simple. All payment is cash-free and automatic.

When is the money withdrawn from my account?

Right after finishing parking.

What is the basis of billing?

In most cases, billing is based on minute-based charges. The system counts the minutes from the beginning of booking until exit through the gates.

What happens if there are insufficient funds on my account?

It's possible to finish parking, but it won't be possible to start another parking session until the missing amount is paid for from the card, or when a new card is added to your account with sufficient funds.

Will I get an invoice?

Yes. If you'd like to receive an invoice, you can set it up at payment settings.

What does service fee mean?

After every transaction, whether it is on- or off-street parking, electric charging, or pass purchasing, we add a 85 Ft service fee to the total price. On the bill we list the exact amount of the parking/charging and also the service fee in each case.
The service fee is the compensation for the convenience services that we often encounter when using digital services. Think of buying vignette, concert or theater ticket online, or even home delivery falls into this category.


Where can I find coupons?

Parkl coupons can be managed on the application’s Profile/Coupons page.
Under the Available coupons block you can check the validity, value and redeemability of your available coupons.

What do different icons mean regarding coupons?

logoThe coupon can only be used for off-street parking.
logoThe coupon can only be used for on-street parking.
logoThe coupon can only be used for e-charging.
logoThe coupon can be used for on-, and off-street parking and e-charging.
logoThe coupon can be only used at the off-street parking lot(s) specified on the Coupon details page.

Which locations offer discounts on a regular basis?

We have partners where drivers can get free or discounted parking for using different services.
The discount is also available to Parkl users, who simply need to show that they have an ongoing Parkl parking in the app when requesting the parking discount.

Coupon types:

There are different types of coupons that can be used in Parkl’s system:
  • Invite your friends! coupon:
    On the Profile/Coupons page you can find your promotional code that you can share with your friends. This code means a 500 HUF coupon for the invited user that can be used for on-, or off-street parking and e-charge also, for 30 days. If your invited friend uses the coupon, we give you a 500 HUF coupon that you can use for 30 days. You get one coupon after every used promotional coupon. More information: click
  • Promotional coupon: Coupon codes published in press releases, social media posts, newsletters and on other platforms during Parkl promotions can be applied and used for certain actions and period specified in the description.

Important informations about the coupons:

  • One coupon can only be used once.
  • After starting parking/charging the next coupon in the row will be automatically activated and will be deducted from the total amount after the parking/charging has been stopped.
  • Coupons are not transferable, so if the total amount of parking/charging does not exceed the value of the coupon, the amount to be paid will be 0 HUF, but the remaining amount of the coupon cannot be used for the next transaction.
  • Coupons can not be used for parking passes.
  • Coupons can not be used when parking/e-charging on business account.


How can I purchase a pass in the application?

The app enables you to buy different types of passes (daily, weekly, monthly) at various Parkl-partner locations. For further information, open the data sheet of the chosen car park and tap the PURCHASE PASS option. On this screen, you can find the available passes, pricing and the validity period. You can also purchase the selected pass here.

After purchasing a pass successfully, you will receive an email. You can only start parking with a pass after you have received the confirmation email, otherwise the normal parking fee will be applied at the start of your parking. After a successful payment, receiving the confirmation email and refreshing the screen, the START PARKING WITH PASS option appears on the screen.

Payment may take a few minutes, therefore we advise you to purchase the pass before arriving at the location.

Which types of passes can I purchase?

You can find different kinds of passes in each Parkl-partner car park.
  • Daily pass: valid from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on the selected day.
  • 24-hour pass: you can use this pass for 24 hours after purchasing it.
  • 7-day pass: valid for 7 days after 12:00 a.m. on the selected day.
  • Weekly pass: valid from 12:00 a.m. on the first day of the week, until 11:59 p.m. on the last day of the week.
  • 30-day pass: valid for 30 days after 12:00 a.m. on the selected day.
  • Monthly pass: valid from 12:00 a.m. on the first day of the month, until 11:59 p.m. on the last day of the month.
  • 365-day pass: valid from 365 days after 12:00 a.m. on the selected.
Apart from 24-hour, weekly and monthly pass, you can choose the validity period at all types of passes. To manage this setting, choose the CHANGE START DATE option at VALIDITY PERIOD.

What are the limitations of passes?

Certain types of passes can only be used in a determined period, or on weekends. These limitations are shown in the application on the pass purchase screen in all cases.
  • Time-range pass: you can only use the pass in a certain period (for example night pass: 6:00 p.m.-8:00 a.m.)
  • Weekend pass: in case of a daily pass, you can only use it on weekends.

Can I buy multiple passes simultaneously?

Yes, but you cannot use one pass at different locations. You can only use the pass at one certain location where you have purchased it.


How can I join my company in Parkl’s system?

First download Parkl app from the Apple Store or Google Play Store. Register in the app with the email account you want to use for company parking. If you only want to use the app for company parking, you do not need to register your credit card.

Your company administrator will send an invitation to the email you provided. Open the e-mail invitation you received and click on the "accept invitation" button. Make sure you accept the invitation on a device that has the app installed and you are logged in to your profile.

I already have a Parkl registration, but my company is launching Parkl. Do I need to create a new registration to use the company parking?

You don't need to create a new profile, just accept the invitation from the company. We can change your email address to the company one if necessary, but in this case all receipts including private parking transactions will be sent to this email address.

Do I have to register with my company email address?

There is no such restriction by Parkl, but the company may request it. If you have registered with a wrong email address, there is no need to cancel your registration, just contact our customer service on and we will help you change the email address associated with your account.

How can I access my company profile after switching devices?

To access your profile, all you need to do is log in to your profile using the email and password you have previously provided. If you registered using Facebook or Apple ID, use these to log in.

Do I need to register my credit card if I only use company parking?

No, but if you register you will be able to park in other Parkl parking lots, wherever instant parking is available, the barrier will be automatically open for you (e.g. in malls).

What should I do if I find a mistake when accepting an invitation?

The invitation must be accepted from a mobile phone with the Parkl app downloaded and logged in. If you tried to accept the invitation on your phone and experienced a problem, please contact our customer service at and we will help you solve the problem!

I left the parking lot, but I see that my parking has not stopped. What should I do?

Contact your company administrator, they can close your parking.


How can I find the smart bike storages?

In the Parking view of the application’s map, pins with bike icons indicate the locations of the smart bike storages. After clicking the pin, you can check the address, opening hours, description, and price, as well as the navigation option for the chosen bike storage.

How do I start bike parking?

  1. Open the black steel bar on the storage.
  2. Place your bike next to the storage so that the black steel bar fits between the wheel and the frame.
  3. Click the pin in the Parkl app, with the bike on it.
  4. Choose the BIKE PARKING option.
  5. Enter the 3-digit ID on the storage and click LOCK.
  6. Close the steel bar on the storage until it clicks.

How do I stop bike parking?

  1. Open your active parking, by tapping the green bar on the app’s map.
  2. Click the END PARKING button.
  3. Enter the 3-digit ID on the storage and click OPEN.
  4. Fold up the black steel bar and take out your bike.
  5. Lower the black steel bar until it clicks.
  6. Once the bike parking is stopped, we will notify you by email of the details of the storage.

What should I do if I can't open the storage?

If you can’t open the black steel bar on the storage, call our customer service or write us on Facebook.

Possible problems

What happens if my phone's battery dies during parking or if I can’t access internet?

Try to notify Parkl with the help of the facility's personnel.

Who takes responsibility for damages?

Parking service is provided by the owner of the parking facility. Parkl only helps the two parties to find each other, so the facility owner is responsible.

What should I do if there's a problem with my parking spot?

Contact Parkl via Profile -> About -> Send email to the customer service.
